About the Role
The CORE SBA department handles 7(a) and 504 loans up to $5,000,000.00, as well as USDA loans. As a CORE Closing Specialist III, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accurate and compliant closing of these complex loans. This is a high-volume position requiring exceptional attention to detail, a deep understanding of SOP (Standard Operating Procedures), and comprehensive knowledge of all eligibility and closing requirements. Your expertise in LaserPro will be essential in preparing precise loan documents and navigating the closing process efficiently. A critical aspect of this role involves a strong grasp of due diligence requirements, including the ability to meticulously review and understand UCC filings, intricate title work, and other essential legal documentation.
Responsibilities
As a CORE Closing Specialist III, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Expertly managing a high volume of SBA and USDA loan closings, ensuring accuracy and adherence to strict deadlines.
- Thoroughly reviewing Credit Memos to identify and fulfill all terms and conditions essential for loan closing.
- Proactively collaborating with Lenders, Borrowers, escrow/title companies, and outside counsel to efficiently collect and review all necessary due diligence items.
- Critically analyzing and understanding due diligence documentation, including UCC searches, title commitments, surveys, environmental reports, and organizational documents, to identify potential issues and ensure compliance.
- Accurately entering loan information into Etran and submitting loans for the issuance of PLP (Preferred Lender Program) and Terms and Conditions.
- Demonstrating proficiency in LaserPro to prepare comprehensive and compliant loan documentation.
- Serving as a primary point of contact, effectively addressing inquiries from internal and external stakeholders and providing timely communication to all parties involved.
- Ordering and meticulously reviewing all required third-party reports, including but not limited to Business Valuations, Appraisals, Site Inspections, EDRs, Phase 1s, and Phase 2s.
- Proactively identifying and resolving potential issues that may arise during the closing process, collaborating with appropriate parties to ensure a smooth resolution.
- Working closely with Quality Control (QC) to address and resolve any deficiencies or issues prior to loan closing.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date loan statuses within Hubspot.
- Actively participating in weekly pipeline management calls, providing clear and concise updates on assigned loans.
- Assisting the department as needed in the servicing of the bank’s SBA loan portfolio or in responding to audit inquiries.
- Collaborating with the Post-Closing Department to ensure the proper perfection of all collateral.
- Delivering exceptional internal and external customer service, resolving problems, issues, or questions promptly and professionally to maintain customer satisfaction and productive relationships.
- Adhering strictly to the policy and procedures of the SBA Department and complying with all BSA/AML/OFAC regulations and guidelines.
- Performing other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.
Qualifications
- NOTE: This role is eligible for remote work; work status may change in the future based on business needs as determined but management.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; High school diploma or GED required.
- 5-8 years of experience in SBA loan closing/packaging, or closely related experience, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of the entire loan lifecycle.
- Demonstrated mastery of SBA closing processes and procedures, including a deep understanding of all eligibility and closing requirements as outlined in the SOP.
- Proven ability to manage a high volume of loan closings with exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong knowledge of due diligence requirements, including the ability to interpret and understand UCC financing statements, complex title commitments, surveys, and other critical legal and collateral documentation.
- Advanced proficiency in LaserPro for document preparation and loan management.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex information clearly and concisely.
- Exceptional organizational skills with a proven ability to prioritize deadlines, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex issues efficiently.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong client relationships and effectively manage processes.
- Proficient in entering loan information in Etran.
