Position: Manual Machinist

Location: Mobile, AL

Pay: $35/hour

Experience

  • 3+ years of manual machining experience preferred
  • Experience operating conventional lathes and mills required

Education

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Technical or trade school training is a plus

Type: Full-time; Contract

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00am to 4:00pm

Clark Personnel is seeking a Manual Machinist to join a growing and dynamic team!

Job Description

  • Set up and operate manual lathes, milling machines, drill presses, grinders, saws, and related shop equipment
  • Machine, repair, and modify shafts, gears, sprockets, pulleys, couplings, and other industrial components
  • Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and work orders
  • Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, bore gauges, and other measuring instruments
  • Maintain close tolerances and ensure finished parts meet specifications
  • Select tooling, speeds, and feeds appropriate for various materials and operations
  • Assist with gearbox rebuilds, repairs, and custom fabrication projects
  • Operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and lifting devices safely when handling large components
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and maintain a clean, safe work environment
  • Work closely with supervisors and team members to complete rush and emergency repair jobs as needed

Position Requirements

  • Ability to read blueprints and understand mechanical drawings
  • Strong understanding of machining practices, tolerances, and shop mathematics
  • Experience machining steel and industrial materials
  • Familiarity with gears and power transmission components is a plus
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods
