USA Health hiring Mail & Courier Supervisor in Mobile, AL
Responsibilities
The Mail Room & Courier Service Supervisor receives, sorts, processes and delivers all incoming and outgoing mail for the Health System. The Mail Room & Courier Service Supervisor also supervises the motor vehicle operators’ daily activities and addresses operational and human resources issues.
The Mail Room & Courier Service Supervisor professional responsibility within their scope of practice: Abides by and enforces all compliance requirements and policies and performs these responsibilities in an ethical manner consistent with the organization’s values; Adheres to health system policies including confidentiality; Requires regular and prompt attendance; Works the assigned schedule including overtime and call as required; Assists with the orientation of new employees; Related duties as required.
The Mail Room & Courier Service Supervisor department responsibilities: Requires minimal supervision to safely perform patient care/essential functions; Utilizes proper body mechanics when moving equipment and or supplies weighing up to 50 lbs. that are necessary to perform essential functions; Reports broken or malfunctioning equipment to supervisor or department head; Unlocks all mail sacks and sorts by department or location; Supervises, assigns, and coordinates daily activities of the mail room and courier service; Supervises to ensure all motor vehicle operators are completing required deliveries and pick-ups of supplies. lab samples, and mail in a timely manner; Ensures motor vehicle fleet is being maintained and required safety checks are being performed. Reports unscheduled maintenance to Health System Distribution Manager; Assists Health System Distribution Manager with evaluating the performance of motor vehicle operators and initiating disciplinary action; Sorts all interoffice correspondence by department or location; Delivers all incoming mail and interoffice mail to all departments serviced by the mailroom; Sorts and runs through postage meter all outgoing mail according to regulations. Weighs mail and supplies and applies proper postage by setting the postage meter; Prepares and keeps records of certified, registered and return receipt request of outgoing letters and packages.
The Mail Room & Courier Service Supervisor communication responsibilities: Communicates and uses appropriate customer relation skills with physicians, patients, families, healthcare team and staff in person and via telephone; Respond to overhead pages.
The Mail Room & Courier Service Supervisor documentation responsibilities: Maintains accurate and complete records by maintaining records of postage cost for departments that we charge and forwarding monthly report to the appropriate parties; Maintains courier slips for future reference.
The Mail Room & Courier Service Supervisor citizenship responsibilities:
Accepts and completes all duties positively without conflict; Cooperates, helps others and improves the performance of the unit; Completes all mandatory unit, educational and hospital requirements; Utilizes cost effective practices in performing all aspects of the job; Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards; Participates on committees as assigned; Paricipates in Performance Improvement activities through quality measurement or participation of ICARE process as assigned; Possession of valid driver’s license and maintain a driving record sufficient to maintain insurance coverage under USA’s commercial auto insurance policy.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent and 3 years experience in a mail room, courier services, or a related field. Possession of a valid driver’s license is required.
