Are you passionate about managing capital projects, improving plant operations, and delivering engineering solutions that enhance reliability, efficiency, safety, and performance? We are seeking a Project Engineer II to lead the planning, development, and execution of engineering and capital improvement projects within a manufacturing environment.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing multiple projects simultaneously, supporting plant operations through technical expertise, and ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and according to quality standards. You will collaborate with operations, maintenance, contractors, and engineering teams to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement cost-effective solutions that maximize asset performance.
Key Responsibilities
Capital Project Management
- Manage multiple capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects from concept development through implementation and project closeout.
- Review project proposals, recommendations, reports, and improvement plans to ensure technical accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare feasibility studies, business cases, cost-benefit analyses, and capital justifications.
- Evaluate supplier proposals, quotations, and project costs to support investment decisions.
- Monitor project scope, schedules, budgets, and deliverables to ensure successful project execution.
Engineering & Technical Support
- Develop engineering studies and technical solutions that improve plant reliability, operability, efficiency, and performance.
- Research and apply industry best practices and emerging technologies to support plant improvements.
- Prepare and review engineering drawings, layouts, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Provide technical guidance during project planning, execution, commissioning, and startup activities.
- Maintain project databases, technical libraries, and engineering records to capture and share organizational knowledge.
Construction & Field Execution
- Coordinate and oversee field activities to ensure projects are executed according to design, specifications, and safety requirements.
- Monitor construction progress and provide on-site support throughout implementation phases.
- Assist with contractor management and field engineering coordination.
- Review construction drawings and technical specifications to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Participate in project meetings and collaborate with stakeholders to resolve issues and maintain project schedules.
Cost Control & Financial Analysis
- Develop project budgets, cost estimates, and financial analyses.
- Track expenditures and monitor project performance against approved budgets.
- Support procurement and supplier evaluation activities.
- Provide cost-saving recommendations and identify opportunities to improve project economics.
- Assist in preparing project reports, forecasts, and performance summaries.
Safety, Compliance & Quality
- Ensure all projects comply with engineering standards, environmental regulations, and organizational policies.
- Promote a strong culture of health, safety, and environmental responsibility.
- Monitor project activities to ensure adherence to safety procedures and quality requirements.
- Identify and mitigate project risks that could impact safety, cost, schedule, or quality.
- Support regulatory and compliance initiatives as required.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Work closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, and leadership teams to identify improvement opportunities.
- Participate in cross-functional initiatives focused on operational excellence and asset optimization.
- Stay informed on project management methodologies, engineering technologies, and industry trends.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts that increase productivity, reliability, and cost effectiveness.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelorโs degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 3โ5 years of engineering, project management, construction, or industrial manufacturing experience.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and execution.
- Ability to develop technical studies, specifications, drawings, and engineering documentation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and ERP systems such as SAP or equivalent platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within cement, concrete, aggregates, construction materials, heavy industry, manufacturing, or related sectors.
- Knowledge of industrial plant operations, maintenance, and capital project execution.
- Familiarity with construction management, contractor coordination, and field engineering activities.
- Experience with reliability improvement, process optimization, and asset management initiatives.
- Project management training or certifications are advantageous.
